Bike Testing

At Brite Coaching, our bike performance testing is guided by veteran coach Allan Prazsky, whose protocol reflects a grassroots and authentically pure approach to understanding cycling performance.

Rather than relying on algorithms or virtual estimates, Allan conducts a structured step test designed to clearly identify both aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. These markers allow us to accurately determine your training zones, including heart rate and power metrics such as Functional Threshold Power (FTP) and maximum power output.

But the test is not just about numbers.

Throughout the session, Allan observes and evaluates the athlete in real time—paying attention to factors that often go unnoticed in virtual testing environments. These include:

  • Riding position and stability

  • Cadence patterns

  • Breathing rate and efficiency

  • Ability to tolerate discomfort (“sufferability”)

  • Pedaling rhythm and fatigue response

Following the test, athletes receive a comprehensive report summarizing their physiological results alongside Allan’s technical observations and recommendations. The goal is not only to define training zones but also to help athletes refine how they ride—whether preparing for cycling races or triathlon.

While virtual platforms like Zwift provide useful training tools, the in-person testing experience remains difficult to replicate. Having an experienced coach observing the athlete live provides insights that technology alone cannot capture.

Testing sessions can be conducted:

  • In person at a central testing location

  • Remotely via Zoom

  • In your home training environment

Cost: $250 per test
