The 5th annual Brite Coaching training camp is around the corner. All passionate and performance minded athletes welcome.
Whistler is the location but you don’t have to be an IMC racer to join us! Why? Because this camp is all about old school training, real world intervals, fun loving support, finding power, beating hearts, perceived efforts and breaking barriers.
Highly coached sessions in the pool, on the road and along the pavement diving deep into how you can learn to train, behave like and think like top level athletes. Our objective is for you to find a new level of training awareness. This might even include learning the pace clock in the pool or setting up your garmin. This camp is for everyone that is spirited and dying to learn more about training like an athlete.
The Real Training Endurance Camp is June 14-16th. The location is Whistler, BC. The coaches are Britni Bakk (12xkona racer and 40+ IM) and Christine Fletcher (6xkona as a Pro and 39 IM). Athletes will leave believing in themselves like they never have before.
Participants will be capped at 20 athletes to allow more one on one time and attention to detail.

Cheeks hurt from smiling so much with this crew of Dixie Devils @dixiedevilsport over three days of training together. Thanks to DD founder @meredith_zohar the tone was participation, community, pretty outfits, pushing boundaries, confirming goals, celebrating « us » and making friends.
In a sport filled with competitive agendas, hard cores, more is « betters » and fleeting efforts, it was not only refreshing but also validating that true longevity is based in something deeper than our individual needs.
Ladies, you all impressed. Minute to minute. Hour to hour.
Keep perspective. Stay pretty. Own your place in this crazy sport. Look after your whole self.
Brite Coaching is better for knowing you and learning your dreams.
See you at start lines to celebrate you at finish lines.

It really is something special to witness an incredible group of women come together over the love of endurance sport, the desire to train their bodies and the passion towards learning new skills ... together.
Today was day two of the @dixiedevilsport training camp near Malibu California. We mixed it up with the @ridemgf through mountains and the PCH. The challenging route itself paled in comparison to the bike tossing gusts of winds we fought at every turn. No where to hide yet no one backed down. We found strength from each other. We celebrated the completion of a pretty swirly day...wind swept and upright. Stronger for it all.

This is how we start a @dixiedevilsport training camp...all smiles, a bucket load of heartbeats and seriass support.
Everyone arrives with a story. Everyone learns that everyone else has a story too. Everyone leaves a little more inspired, connected and empowered to be more.

A shot from the road of three Brite stars riding from San Fran to San Diego over 5 days (along with 25 other nice folks). We could call it base miles, we could call adventures, we could call it doing what we love, we could call it training or we could call it The Annual Coast Ride. Really it’s all of the above and so much more.
Hosted by @aimpcoach and #dougiet for the past 20+ years. Hotel/motels, five days, 1000 miles, coffee stops, flats and mechanicals, team work most times, good convo, awesome views, wind from all directions and memories for life. #coastride #britecoach #californiariding #endurancetraining #dixiedevilsport

This girl @ni_perk impeccably represents the well of emotions and eagerness before starting the Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells, California = Attitude. Readiness. Excitement. Hope. Radness. Commitment. Forward. Desire. Grit. Strength. Longevity.
Some 20+ Brite athletes prepared for this race this Fall. We all came together to see what was possible. Everyone defined success in their own special way.
The day was wrapped with logistics, cold water swimming, flat unpicturesque biking and challenging loopy running. Managing mindset, focus!!, effort, fuelling, form and unanticipated race sensations gave unique colour to everyones race and told the story of the day. What was your story? Tell us.
Huge kudos to Brite coach @lizcullen for winning her AG and snagging a spot to the world champs 70.3 along with @christinecogger and #paulquinn.

Lots of chatter these days about 2019 race selection. It’s our favorite time of year.
Athletes often ask what events they should do. Usually they mean to ask « what are the best races for me to consider based on my overarching goals ? » I truly believe that race selection is a dynamic decision making process that starts with the athletes desires.
Start with asking yourself what you want out of each race experience, align your desires with your budget and time available to travel vs staying local, consider how it impacts your community (family, work, commitments) and reflect on whether the course profile, location and elements match your strengths. Sometimes races check all the boxes but sometimes they don’t and that’s ok. Sometimes races serve other desires such as « doing it with friends » or « slots to a world championships » or « reconnecting with the love of racing ». When you craft your mouldable plan, be unapologetic about the races you choose when they tie in with something meaningful to you. Be steadfast to always deliver best effort in training snd preparing. As the process unfolds, avoid sandbagging ... it’s just not cool...sitting out is a better option.
Go places just enough. Stay home when you can. Engage in racing as a validation and celebration of the preparation you have been doing. Being fit is fun.
Start planning now and use your coach to consult and pave the path with you. The mutual crafting of an awesome race season creates invaluable synergy between coach and athlete. #raceplanning #goals #intention #enduranceoptions #noshortageofchoices #coachathleterelationship
It’s special when athletes reach the podium, deliver a proud performance or PB when their only goal was to do what they knew they could do all along. #hindsight
Of course the coach knows the athletes’ fitness and ability going into a race. They know that if the athlete gives best effort on the day it’s a win. Outcomes look after themselves. What’s unknown is if athletes will allow the performance to shine through given the excitement surrounding racing and trust/belief in self.
Well here’s to @shazaroo12 placing 2nd at Miamiman Triathlon & @Nadia_leach taking not only 3rd at Ironman Arizona but securing a spot to the Ironman World Championships in Kona 2019!
Here’s to @ironmantim taking 6th @ironman70.3cozumel as his 3rd!!! Ironman in 7 months.
Here’s to @stevetriestris getting ugly at Fall Classic and only improving #everyday. Same race...@annabelleglass running a massive PB and #PaulQuinn snagging 2nd.
Sometimes but not always results validate fitness. Sometimes but not always results give a helpful boost in confidence. #rippleeffect
Results are meaningless without effort. Effort is never meaningless with or without results.

Water 60 degrees. ✔️
Sunny skies, patience and letting an Ironman day work it’s magic. « Nothing beats a smiling athlete » says every coach.
Racing a late season Ironman takes special discipline especially when you live in Canada with a full life, three kids, family demands and work responsibilities. This gal @nadia_leach showed up for every session, every effort, every time, every day to prepare for Ironman Arizona. The work is done and now we let the fitness and freshness rise to the surface, focus on how to execute a great day for her and soak in the experience. After Boston Marathon 💦💦Cultus Lake Half IM 💦💦whistler Gran Fondo 💦💦 @nadia_leach is mostly excited about a little 🌝🔥🌵! She’s strong, focused and ready to shine. #ironmanarizona #persistence #mindset #fuel #hydration #pacing @biketech_raceteam @brite.coach
Sometimes athletes forget the main concept of training towards their goals = to develop a high degree of Work Capacity (and enjoy the process while doing so). What does that mean - Work Capacity? It means the ability to tolerate workload and recover from that workload.
In order for athletes to improve throughout a season and beyond they must be able to do a certain threshold amount of work. Simplified = Appropriate stress with optimum adaptive response.
If you are training away without improvements in skill, stamina, efficiency, pace, power, resilience, endurance or economy of movement, you may not be improving and that is really no fun.
This is a great time of year to consider:
1) how much workload can you tolerate consistently?
2) how are you recovering from said workload prior to the next workout?
3) how fatigue resistant are you: metabolic, neural and mental?
4) are you refining aerobic, metabolic and nervous system coordination?
Chances are you know the answers to these questions and can easily act upon them. #workload #endurancetraining #britecoach #improvement #wintertraining
We have asked our athletes about their vision, mindset and goals for the upcoming week, month, year or few years ahead. With that request comes a reframing of how we like to define success in training.
Training with a personal intention and purpose offers athletes the chance, we hope they all take, to avoid faking their way through workouts just to be done or keep up with buddies, post on strava, win a sprint on zwift or seek trophies on training peaks. Glorified training sessions dig holes sometimes so much so that we can’t come back. Longevity is repeatedly threatened. Instead, consistent, just manageable and recoverable training is the way. Every time. I wish I knew the athlete who said “train with me for a day, then try for a week, then strive for a month, then attempt for a year. If you are still with me after a year, you have a chance at succeeding” cuz they nailed it.

Fall is here. 🍁🍁🍁 Athletes are busily rebuilding their fitness, trying desperately to hang onto to their fitness or confused by how this whole fitness thing works.
To be fit and fresh year in year we need change, newness, ebbs and flows, perspective, purpose and a connection to why the alarm is ringing at five a.m. Signing up for a start line can’t be the only thing keeping you going. It has to go deeper.
No matter your big audacious goals this season, commit to keeping things fresh with diversity, adventures, moves!, trips or exploring activities that are completely unrelated to your core sport. When you return to your comfort zone, it too will feel fresh and maybe a bit magical.

This event.
There’s only one.
The Hawaii Ironman World Championships.
The one and only @arabiantrieagle made history as the first Saudi Arabian woman to ever qualify and compete in this event. Her lifelong dream to traverse the same waters, highways and lava fields as the legends in our sport became very real yesterday. It was a masterful day of celebrating that achievement. #nowords
Very special moment with @jackierun23 as she finished off her final 6 miles like it was her first mile. I had the privilege to witness execution at its best and after incredible block of preparation towards this event. She effortlessly ran herself from 24th to 9th in AG 💫#star
Brite Coach @sagamore111 rocked in as 13th in her division making this her 12th, yes 12th, World Championships! #legend
